Nga Ho-Dac is an Associate Professor of Marketing at San Francisco State University. He earned a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Utah, an M.B.A. in International Business from the Asian Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Vietnam National University.
His current research focuses on digital marketing, social media, continuous improvement product, and distributed innovation (open innovation and user innovation). Professor Ho-Dac has published in the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, two of the most prestigious journals in Marketing. His research examining online customer reviews and brand equity was ranked first among 11 impactful articles for their managerial relevance and ranked fifth in the top ten (most-read) articles in 2014 by The Marketing Science Institute. The study was also featured in “Online Social Media and Networks: Impact on Marketing Practice” by the American Marketing Association.
At San Francisco State, Nga is training his students to apply different digital marketing tools and techniques such as web marketing, search engine marketing, social media, mobile marketing, location based marketing, content marketing, online advertising, email marketing, and marketing automation to acquire, convert, retain, and grow customers in the modern market where data are getting bigger and bigger, new technologies are developed faster and faster, new business models are emerging, the power is shifting from marketers to consumers, and the structure of the value chain is changing. Moreover, Nga inspires his student to move from the traditional approach to the data-driven approach in marketing.
He is also the first education partner of Marketo, a leading marketing automation company. His partnership with Marketo makes San Francisco State University one of the first three universities in the world partnering with Marketo to train marketing students in marketing automation.
In addition to his academic career, Nga Ho-Dac has trained executives from Nokia, AC Nielsen, Effem Foods, Mead Johnson, Shell, Kimberly-Clark, Holcim, Organon, Scancom, Datacraft, Vietnam Airline, Alcon Pharmaceuticals, Coats Phong Phu, Saigon Postel, Vietcombank, etc.
